Previously, my record was 40 miles back in March 2023 as I was preparing for the April 2025 Cherry Blossom 5K.
This time, I'm training for the Mighty Gobbler, a Thanksgiving 5K in Michigan. I picked up a Garmin Forerunner 165 and I've been following its Garmin Coach suggested workouts, which tell me when to do long runs, tempo runs, intervals, etc. Basically, I don't even have to think! I just have to keep my heart rate in the range it suggests for the time it suggests. And so far it's really working!
I'm a little disappointed that I have so few friends on Strava who might cheer me on. I guess this is what I get for surrounding myself with choir people my whole life. :P But I feel good, and that's enough for me. Plus I weighed in at 197 this morning, so things are good on that front too!
My daily Greek yogurt with fruit/nuts/granola/chia/hemp hearts is something I absolutely look forward to, and it really keeps me full.
Is anyone still out there? Leave a comment if you are... it's pretty lonely here on Blogspot these days but I've been dropping posts here for over 20 years and I'd really hate to abandon it.
